Sr Retention Marketing Manager, Waltham

We are going beyond the typical publishing approach by developing an innovative membership component to our business and now seek a dynamic marketing leader to help drive membership acquisition and engagement across our broad B2C portfolio. You will grow the lifetime value of our users and improve the consumer experience and value of all communication touch-points, accelerating revenue growth by turning readers into buyers.

We are looking for a Sr. Retention Marketing Manager to direct efforts to increase membership and engagement across the ShopSavvy brand portfolio of sites and the ShopSavvy App.  The Marketing Manager will report to the VP, Membership Marketing and will work closely with the Product, Editorial and Communication teams to develop and optimize campaigns focused on membership growth and growing the lifetime value of users, including improving the consumer experience.  The candidate will be responsible for gathering and reporting out metrics for campaigns and adjusting strategy and tactics based on those metrics. He/She will be expected to understand the principles of personalization and implications for creative elements and content.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop, monitor and optimize marketing campaigns to increase membership signup’s across the ShopSavvy brand portfolio of sites and the ShopSavvy App.
  • Establish ambitious online and mobile plans for new user acquisition to achieve and maintain traffic and membership goals;
  • Provide hands-on, end-to-end management of campaigns and programs including conception and drafting of business cases, creative briefs, planning, execution and reporting.
  • Analyze and improve the user funnel from registration to purchase and repeat usage in order to identify opportunities and segment our customers;
  • Work cross functionally with the communications and mobile product marketing team to optimize new member onboarding to reduce drop off
  • Identify opportunities to monetize traffic and work closely with our personalization vendor to develop, test and iterate on new ideas
  • Help invent and test all levers, from personalization and category targeting, to messaging and design changes to increase engagement and drive revenue
  • Collaborate with the editorial teams to look for opportunities to promote the ShopSavvy App
  • Identify and evaluate new opportunities to profitably acquire new ShopSavvy members
  • Analyze data and communicate actionable results to the membership and leadership teams


  • Minimum 6 years in a B2C marketing role, content/commerce experience is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of analytics tools (for example Google Analytics, Flurry);
  • Creative problem solving and an analytical approach
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities and meet deadlines
  • A scrappy attitude and passion to move forward quickly, balanced with the patience to manage incrementally towards a larger vision
  • Publishing or ecommerce industry experience
  • Experience leading marketing efforts during a high growth phase with a proven ability to innovate and experiment
  • Experience developing Acquisition / Activation marketing campaigns across platforms (desktop, mobile web and mobile apps)
  • A proven ability to meaningfully impact traffic, acquisition and conversion.
  • Experience with Google Analytics is a must
  • Experience with personalization is a plus (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail. You take ownership of your work.
  • A positive attitude. You know how to get things done and proactively reach out to the necessary individuals/team for approvals to get projects across the finish line.
  • BA/BS in Marketing or related field.
